Tessa is a fast-talking freelance film and television critic and editor. A recovering academic, she has a PhD in sci-fi and fantasy film and literature from the University of Arkansas that she blames on watching Star Trek at an impressionable age.

She has been writing film and television criticism since 2022 for MovieJawn, TheWrap, and other outlets. Because of her immense curiosity, her specialties are diverse: sci-fi, fantasy, animation, gothic monsters, kaiju, John Woo, LGBTQIA+, and Star Trek. She also finds joy in assisting writers in both the developmental and proofreading stages of their reviews and features as associate editor for MovieJawn, a role she's held since 2024. When she's not writing or editing, she hosts Pay Attention, 007, a podcast about the James Bond franchise.
